In a democratic society, citizens need to be able to weigh the pros and cons when deciding what they believe and how they should vote. In today's knowledge-based society, that sometimes means having to understand technical and scientific issues. But do young people in Europe actually have the scientific literacy needed to participate in decisions that involve science?

Η κυκλοφοριακή συμφόρηση ήταν για πολλά χρόνια ένα αρκετά συνηθισμένο φαινόμενο σε μεγαλουπόλεις σε όλο τον κόσμο. Αν και έχουν γίνει πολλά βήματα για την αντιμετώπισή του, και ταυτόχρονα το τέλος της «εποχής του φτηνού πετρελαίου» έχει μειώσει τη χρήση αυτοκινήτων στις πόλεις, σε αρκετά μέρη του πλανήτη το πρόβλημα παραμένει, και αναζητώνται εναλλακτικές στις αστικές μεταφορές.

Global cooperation, twinning schemes and training sessions have helped strengthen the EU network of research-related National Contact Points (NCPs). This has served to reinforce European research and the EU''s rapidly evolving knowledge economy.
