Trending Science: Non-invasive ‘e-Skin’ monitors the body’s vital signs

Researchers from the University of Tokyo, publishing in the journal ‘Science Advances’ report that their ‘e-skin,’ laminated on to the actual skin of a wearer, was used to accurately monitor the levels of oxygen in the blood of volunteers during testing.

New platform provides SME access to simulation technologies

The EU-funded CLOUDSME project has made it easier for SMEs looking to apply simulation technologies in order to achieve operational efficiencies.

While simulation software is now widely used in manufacturing and engineering to analyse chemical processes, manufacturing systems, logistics and supply chains, take-up of simulation software by SMEs has until now been low. This is mostly due to high barriers of entry such as hardware prices, licensing costs and technical expertise. In this respect, European SMEs can find themselves at a competitive disadvantage.

Η Γενική Γραμματεία Δια Βίου Μάθησης και Νέας Γενιάς, Διεύθυνση Νέας Γενιάς συνεχίζοντας την προσπάθεια ενημέρωσης και υποστήριξης των νέων που θέλουν να δραστηριοποιηθούν επαγγελματικά στον πρωτογενή τομέα της οικονομίας ανακοινώνει την έναρξη πέντε (5) επιμορφωτικών σεμιναρίων βραχείας εκπαίδευσης (διάρκειας 50 ωρών το καθένα), τα οποία θα υλοποιηθούν στην Αθήνα με τη συνεργασία του Τμήματος Επιστήμης Φυτικής Παραγωγής του Γεωπονικού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών στους παρακάτω αναφερόμενους τομείς:

The European Programme for Employment and Social Innovation "EaSI" 2014-2020 Programme shall, in all its axes and actions, aim to:

(a) pay particular attention to vulnerable groups, such as young people;
(b) promote equality between women and men,
(c) combat discrimination based on sex, racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation;
(d) promote a high-level of quality and sustainable employment, guarantee adequate and decent social protection, combat long-term unemployment and fight against poverty and social exclusion.
