Science centres, museums and aquariums are in a unique position for public outreach. An EU-funded collaboration is organising a host of activities on the causes and impact of climate change in such environments to ensure dissemination of all age groups.

A simple but smart solution to containing tanker oil spills

Prompt intervention when shipwrecks and tankers are in distress can be crucial in confining pollution and limiting possible damage to the environment. Until recently however, a lack of appropriate tools and systems have hampered rescue efforts.

Local, flexible manufacturing of personalised furniture

As in many other industrial practices, furniture production generates waste - such as from wood processing, wood preservation and from the use of paints and varnishes. All of the resulting waste can damage the environment and harm people.

Vaccines for Schistosomiasis

Schistosomiasis is a chronic disease caused by parasitic flatworms from the genus Schistosoma and affecting over 200 million people globally. The EU-funded project ''The targeted development of a new generation vaccine for schistosomiasis'' (THESCHISTOVAC) aims to develop vaccines for the prevention or treatment of schistosomiasis.
