Non-invasive imaging to detect myocardial ischaemia

A recent study evaluated an integrated non-invasive cardiac imaging technique for the detection of ischaemic heart disease (IHD).

Cardiovascular disease is a major cause of death across Europe. Although cardiovascular mortality rates, adjusted for age, are generally declining, the prevalence of IHD is increasing due to the emergence of new risk factors.

Using the fruit fly to model cancer

A European consortium set out to identify novel cancer targets and small molecules using the fruit fly as a model organism. By integrating technological advances in the field and developing novel bioassays CANCERPATHWAYS scientists were able to conduct high-throughput screening (HTS) of cancer-associated pathways and to discover novel cancer targets and compounds with anti-cancer therapeutic potential.

Harmonising genetic testing quality standards in Europe

An EU-funded project, EUROGENTEST2, aims to coordinate the harmonisation and standardisation of genetic testing services by setting quality standards and providing reference materials for benchmarking.
