New dry WC delivers the smell of success!

An EU-funded project has developed a new and efficient dry toilet system that will be more widely acceptable to users. It smells less and is low maintenance, but more importantly will help to reduce water usage.

New algal species for biofuel production

Cultivating microalgae for use in the production of biofuels is an attractive alternative to traditional sources of biomass. The latest research in this area has identified important new species and processes that could become indispensable for microalgal production of biofuel.

Seeing the world using data extraction tools

Remotely sensed Earth Observation (EO) data offer a wealth of useful information, but there are no standards tools to analyse and exploit it. A European project is developing open-source software solutions to fill this gap.
