Increasing Europe's solar energy capacity

Concentrated solar energy is an exciting renewable technology that uses mirrors or lenses to concentrate sunlight and generate heat, for conversion into electrical power. An EU-funded initiative is developing a unified approach for the study and exploitation of this clean and sustainable energy source.

Puffing on wings to reduce drag

Controlling the air flow over a wing to minimise drag is a promising way to decrease fuel consumption, noise and emissions. Novel technology employing pulses of compressed air at just the right locations could be a solution.
