New perspectives on conflict resolution as governance

Governance initiatives by EU and India in conflict zones, both internally and on their borders, share fundamental challenges with regard to political representation. The CORE project identifies a range of premises and the effects of these efforts, which will allow scholars and policy makers to improve their conceptions of conflict resolution.

Harnessing natural killer cells for autoimmune disease

Monoclonal antibodies (Mabs) are of increasing importance in the treatment of cancers and autoimmune conditions such as non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, some Mabs are more effective than others in targeting diseased cells.

Blocking resistance to radiation therapy in cancerous cells

Scientists demonstrated for the first time specific inhibition of the Velcro site, a protein–protein binding site critical to resistance to radiation in cancerous cells. This opens the way to important new routes for targeted cancer therapy.

Metal trafficking in plant cells

Fluorescent sensors are the best tools for monitoring the dynamics of metals in living cells. The main aim of an EU-funded project was to apply the sensors to monitor the in vivo dynamics of transient metals in plant cells.
