Europe's coasts are home to thousands of marine species precisely adapted to harsh environments and which are likely to produce biological molecules of value to humans. An EU-funded project is working towards finding these molecules for sustainable production in the medical and cosmetics arena.

The role of microbes in allergy and autoimmunity

By obtaining mechanistic insights into the early processes underlying chronic inflammation, European scientists wish to understand the onset and progression of allergic or autoimmune diseases. Information generated will form the basis for the development of preventive or treatment measures for atopic dermatitis (AD) and psoriasis (PSO).
