Environmental concerns and public opinion increasingly reveal the need for car manufacturers to drive away from heavy fuel guzzling cars to lighter, fuel efficient models.

DNA methylation for cancer diagnosis

The CANCERDIP initiative explored the use of the epigenetic profile of cancers as a predictor of cancer behaviour. Consortium members also developed molecular and bioinformatics tools that are expected to significantly aid the future analysis of DNA methylation.

Finding ways to prevent childhood diabetes

Understanding the causes of type1 diabetes (T1D) and finding early disease markers seem the only way forward to reduce disease incidence. Based on this, the DIAPREPP consortium set out to identify and exploit early events in the development of autoimmunity against islet beta antigens in a large cohort of children.
