Best Climate Practices on “Climate Change and Water Availability for Food Production”

Deadline: 10 July 2015
Open to: individuals and/or teams from all over the world
Prize: EUR 10,000

Description

The Best Climate Practices Observatory is a project of the International Center for Climate Governance (ICCG). ICCG is a joint initiative of Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) and Fondazione Giorgio Cini, in collaboration with the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC). The Best Climate Practices (BCP) aims at giving a complete overview of the concrete actions for dealing with climate change, while stressing the wide range of possibilities that, if implemented by politics, economics, institutions, enterprises and researchers, could make a decisive difference. The aim of the project is to help propagate best climate practices, showcasing a compendium of existing climate change measures and practices.

The Best Climate Practices Contest of 2015 aims to showcase innovative solutions to improve efficient water management and water-smart food production, and to help the winner/s in scaling up existing projects or implementing ground-breaking ideas. Topic for this year contest is “Climate Change and Water Availability for Food Production”.

Eligibility

The contest is open to anyone, regardless of nationality or expertise in the field;
Proposals can be submitted by individual users or teams;
Submitters can be the authors of the practice or they can submit a third party’s practice. However, it is strictly forbidden to submit someone else’s practice/idea as one’s own. Where intellectual property owner’s authorization is needed, it is the responsibility of the applicant(s) to obtain such authorization prior to submitting the final materials;
Projects previously exhibited or published may be resubmitted, as long as they conform to the rules and the entry guidelines of the previous competition. For practices/ideas that have been exhibited or published elsewhere, we request to be informed through the Note section in the ad hoc web form;
The contest is open to practices (projects, initiative or ideas) that implement, promote, or develop “water-smart” solutions, sustainable and climate-resilient water management systems, strategies for better use and conservation of water resources under climate change in agriculture and food production;
Admitted practices can present: a brand new idea or an already existing project (in its preliminary phase, under way or already concluded);
Submissions not consistent with the 2015 BCP Contest theme, even if commendable projects themselves, will not be taken into consideration.

Prizes

The winning practice of the 2015 BCP contest will be awarded EUR 10,000. Moreover, ICCG will promote the winner and other deserving projects in competition through its communication channels.

The winner will be announced in early October and the prize awarded during a ceremony organized in the framework of Expo Milano 2015 Universal Exhibition.
