Since 2013, Europe has recognized the web entrepreneurial talent, and expressed its approval for successful web initiatives. Through the “Europioneers Award 2014″, the European Commission celebrates Europe’s finest technology entrepreneurs. This technology award is an unique opportunity to achieve visibility in the large-scale digital business.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible to compete for the European Web Entrepreneur of the Year 2014 your company must:
•Be on the supply side of the business;
•Create new digital services and products that use the web as an indispensable component;
•Main service and/or product be innovative in the EU region;
•Company should be based in one of the EU member states;
•At least 50% of the founders should be citizens or permanent residents of the EU member states.

Competition

There are five different categories and awards depending on yours company structure and features:
•Web entrepreneur of the year “Award” - Web entrepreneurs constitute a specific category who create new digital services and products that use the web as an indispensable component. The company should be based in one of the EU member states, and at least, 50% of founders should be citizens or permanent residents of the EU member states;
•High Growth* web entrepreneur of the year “Gazelle Award”- Your company should be not be more than 3 years old; Initial size of minimum 19 employees at start of reference period and average yearly growth of 20% over a period of 3 years – growth can be in terms of revenue and or employees;
•Young web entrepreneur of the year “Youth Award”- The Web Entrepreneur must be under 30 years old, your company must not be a spin-off of an existing company and, company should demonstrate a promising track-record of early achievements and also should be a scalable business model;
•Female web entrepreneur of the year “Women Award”- For this category companies need to have a female executive chair and at least 50% of the founders of the company should be female.

To get to the winner of The Europioneers award there are three stages. A nomination round, a public voting round and at the end the jury will decide on the actual winner. Nominees can apply via the site and a hand picked jury of tech illuminati will pick a short list. There will be a public voting round to select the five final nominees from that short list (based on most votes). Nominations will end on 31 August 2014. After this the public voting will begin and it will last till September 19th. The jury will announce the short listed companies on 24 September and again will have public voting which is going to last one month, till October 24th. The winner will be announced on 4 November 2014.
